Effect of Fly Ash and Corrosion Inhibitors on Concrete Strength: a Modular Approach

The New Boundaries of Structural Concrete Session C – New Scenarios for Concrete

Memoria tratta da "The New Boundaries of Structural Concrete: Session C - New Scenarios for Concrete", ACI IC - Ancona 2011

The present study compares various concrete mixtures with fly ash, proportioned by modulating two different types of corrosion inhibitors. The first is added to the mixture and the second is a surface treatment. The performance of the concrete, permeability to chlorides (Rapid Chloride Penetration Test) and to water (penetration under pressure), was measured at different ages. This study shows that in concretes with fly ash and corrosion inhibitors the permeability to chlorides, and generally to aggressive agents, decreases more rapidly than in concretes without fly ash and corrosion inhibitors.
